Hi, here for very reluctant sale is my Challenger E Type replica, owned and built by myself in the late ’80s, and registered on the road before SVA was introduced (1996, from memory?)

  It is a well built (in my eyes), well used Jaguar based car, with 4.2 S2 XJ6 engine, 5 speed gearbox and narrowed IRS with a 2.88(again, from memory) LSD diff.

  Widened driver’s foot well (could be tidied up) and MGB pedal box, which eliminates the hugely oversized XJ6 servo/master cylinder.

  Has taken myself and partner to Spa Classic (twice) and Le Mans classic with full camping kit carefully packed!!

  As you can see, the hood frame and canopy need finishing off- it’s a modified MG Midget frame with modified Spitfire header rail, and a E Type S3 mohair cover, so there’s plenty of spare material!!

  Would like £30k, but will listen to sensible offers.

In running order with 12-month MOT but needs respray and interior upholstery to finish.

Late chassis with Jaguar Series 3 XJ6 running gear, new diff oil seal fitted.

Reconditioned braking system with new seals and flexible hoses. Extended rear brake bleed nipples for easy access.

Fully rewired with circuit diagram and full LED light conversion. Headlights modified so that they can be adjusted from under the wings.

New glass in speedo and rev counter. New rubber seals for windows and bumpers.

4 new stainless wire wheels with new tyres at cost of £3000.

Manual conversion with Jaguar LT77 5 speed gearbox and Series 3 reconditioned high compression 4.2 straight 6-cylinder engine. All new bushes to gearbox selector. Original E Type hood mechanism. Custom stainless steel exhaust system costing £1500.

Front wishbones sand blasted and painted with new ball joints and rubbers. Newly insulated gear box tunnel. New bonnet and boot latch cables. Adjustable bonnet hinges and bonded in bonnet louvres.

Lots of original E Type parts. New electronic distributor to be fitted. Front and rear bumpers re-chromed (not yet fitted). New aluminium radiator to be modified and fitted.

Lots of spares including wheel & tyre, starter motor, water pump. Detachable hard top that needs repairing. Lots of original parts available for reassembly.

Full 12-month MOT.
